I, Robot vs Do Androids...

Just posting about some of the broad differences between these two novels. These differences can pretty much all be found in the introduction to an essay I am writing:

An interesting though I had was how it seems that Asimov and Phillip Dick are using different methods of "leveling the value" of humans and robots/androids

-In I, Robot, Asimov brings the level of value of robots up to the human level.

-In Philip K Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” humans are brought down to the value of androids.

Phillip K Dick provides humans that are not as kind or innocent as, say, Gloria. Instead, he has characters like Rick Deckard whose occupation is to permanently shut down androids. Rick believes that robots do not feel, this in turn seems to bring down the morality of humans, towards robots.

It seems like a difference between the two is that Asimov suggests that robots really are something special, and that Phillip Dick implies that humans really aren't anything special.
